Monday 2nd April 2012 - (9DCA)

Greetings 9DCA.... For today's class:

Today we have two major tasks at hand... firstly is to check off your ICT publishing task "Laptop Safety" poster in my google doc... so you all need to bring this up on your computer so I can check it off.

Also - you are to complete this "Exploring Documents" task today...by following the task instructions below.

ICT Vocab List "Exploring Documents" task

  • OPEN Microsoft Word and create a new document. SAVE the document as "9ICT Vocab" and make sure put it in your YEAR 9 ICT FOLDER ON YOUR DESKTOP. Start a vocab list on this document. Detail any words or concepts that are new to you or which you need to take note of. Try and add 4 words and definitions to this document during each ICT session.
  •  COPY the bullet pointed paragraph above this one "Open Microsoft word"...to "during each ICT session". INSERT A TEXT BOX into your new document and then PASTE the paragraph into a new text box.at the top of your new word doc entitled 9ICT vocab. SELECT THE TEXT in the text box and ADJUST THE LINE SPACING, so that it is set to 1.5 line spacing.
  • ADD THE TITLE "9ICT VOCAB LIST" at the top of the page. Make sure it is in capital letters and in bold.
  • OPEN clip art and ADD AN IMAGE from the clipart folder underneath your title - make sure it is something to do with writing or technology.
  • DELETE the title at the top of the document and insert a WORD ART title instead. Call it the same title. Play around with different word art looks, colours, and fonts until you have found one you like.
  • SAVE YOUR DOCUMENT
  • ADJUST THE TABS  on your document - so your page parameters are different than when you started.
  • INSERT A TABLE  (two columns by 20 rows) - to add new ICT vocab words and their definitions into. HEAD THE LEFT HAND COLUMN "ICT WORD/CONCEPT" AND THE RIGHT HAND COLUMN "WORD DEFINITION/EXPLANATION"
  •  USE SPELLCHECK to check your work thus far...
  • INSERT four new ict vocab words or concepts into your table and write their definitions/explanations. This could be for work we have done already in class
Once you have finished - I need to see what you have done and check it off on our GOOGLE doc.
You may then continue with work on Typing tutor or Ribbon Hero... :)

ICT Publishing ICT Poster task - 9DCA & 9GAV

Greetings fellow 9DCA and 9GAV students...

Just a reminder that you first official "marked off" ICT task is now due...

I will be coming around your class to tick off that you have completed the Laptop Safety poster to the right standard.

Before I do so... can you make sure you have considered the following things:
  • Poster layout - interesting use of colour / font / size / border /
  • Use of graphics (taken from google images?) - placement of pictures/graphics on the page in relation to the text. Take another image and lay it on top? Manipulate your images somehow - play around with colour / size etc.
  • Text - At least 4-5 different points of information detailing how you can keep your laptop safe. E.g. Don't eat or drink near laptops / Don't ever place blankets or other items on top of latops as they can overheat / Don't lift your laptop by its lid... etc.

I will be coming around to check the following off into our googledoc against your name...
  1. Create a multi-media resource using WORD
  2. Use captured images
  3. Manipulate images

If you have not completed all of these things, then you know what you need to do!
See you in class :)
